Places to visit in Los Angeles: 48 hours to explore

I still can’t quite believe I went on a self guided, three week California road trip in April 2016. It had been my dream for more than 10 years, so the fact I made it a reality is a definite ‘pinch me’ moment. And in just 48 hours I went to visit some amazing places in Los Angeles.

I love travel photography as it provides a freeze frame of the experience. What’s that saying? A picture is worth a thousands words. Well I feel like this image is priceless. And I can only wish I owned the Panasonic mirrorless camera during the trip as it would have upped the quality ten fold!!

Don’t forget to read about my epic California road trip and be inspired by my two week guide!

But why Gina, why is it your favourite?

Well, first up I think it looks cool. That’s right. The dusk sunlight dominating the background creates that beautiful dropped shadow at the front. The mountains that float in between radiate three unique shades whilst I quietly rest in the corner. Everything about the aesthetic is gorgeous. Calm.

But less superficially and more importantly, the memory of this day will live with me forever. It was taken in LA, where we spent two days exploring.

First 24 hours in LA

The first 24 hours consisted of a major hang over. We spent the previous night in a Mexican bar with our mates who were coincidentally travelling California at the same time. Too much tequila and a touch of sun stroke meant we only managed to get out in the late afternoon. We had tickets to see the James Corden Late Late Show, which was really fun. Here’s how you can get free tickets! We took a quick trip to Hollywood boulevard. It’s actually super sketchy you know.

I’ll move swiftly onto the next 24 hours, as it ended up being the polar opposite and when this image was taken.

Final 24 hours in LA

Refreshed and hydrated we had a fun filled day planned. Warner Bros Studio tour was our first stop and as massive entertainment fans, we nearly screamed with excitement. A buggy cart, how American, took us around the grounds and stopped at sets and studios from the likes of Two Broke Girls, Dexter and La La Land. My fella got excited about all the Batman vehicles and I fan-girled at being inside Central Perk.

After immersing ourselves in the Hollywood dream, we cruised across to the Hollywood sign and Griffith Observatory. The observatory sits at the top of Mount Hollywood and boasts an unrivalled view over the city. Inside you can learn about the sky and outside you can get snap happy with the sign. We cuddled at the top to watch the sunset and disappear behind the hills. The perfect end to the the perfect day.

So this one image captures not only the best day in LA, but probably the best of the whole road trip. The trip of my dreams.

I’d love to know your favourite places to visit in Los Angeles? Do you have a favourite picture from your travels?

This sounds like it was so much fun, especially seeing all the movie/TV show sets. I’d love to visit one day 🙂
