Top 5 Shows I’d like to see Tour

December 28, 2016December 7, 2018 Gina Leave a comment
With the New Year peeking its head around the corner, and as a I don’t have easy access to the West End, I have compiled a Top 5 list of shows that I’d like to see tour up North. So, in the form of a countdown, here are the incredible productions that made Culturebean’s touring wish list!

5. Half a Six Pence

Coming in fifth, it’s the new kid on the West End block, a musical adaptation of the H G Wells book, ‘Kipps: The Story of a Simple Soul’; a rags to riches tale.

I think it looks charming, funny and uplifting which makes for a perfect musical recipe. And did I mention its key ingredient is iconic producer Cameron Mackintosh, so it’s just got to be great!

4. Kinky Boots the Musical

As a girl who just wants to have fun, I just had to include Kinky Boots, which has music and lyrics penned by 80s pop star Cyndi Lauper.

I think any story that features raunchy thigh high boots and drag queens with big ideas is a must watch. So I am putting my foot down, let’s get this Musical touring!

3. Matilda the Musical

Hands up if you were a mischievous child? Adore Roald Dahl? Wish for a little bit of magic in your life? I raised my hand sky high for all three, which is why Matilda is a solid third in my list.

This show seems to be bursting at the school seams with so many incredibly talented children and I imagine it is one high energy, creative masterpiece, which are all reasons I wish to see it tour.

2. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory the Musical

As I just admitted, Roald Dahl is a favourite of mine so no wonder Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is second on my list. Promotional images show me this musical is a spectacular explosion of excitement. A real everlasting gobstopper!

This colourful, wondrous musical adaptation of a classic is a tasty treat I’m craving to taste up North. And apparently my wish has come true, as I’ve heard it is indeed embarking on a UK tour!

1. Dream Girls

The star of my list follows a group of young girls making American music history! Give a huge welcome to this newest West End baby, arriving on the scene just last month and all the way from Broadway, it’s Dream Girls!

With major hits such as ‘And I am telling you’ and ‘Listen’ included in this show’s repertoire I can completely believe it brings the house down every night.
